Noho Move chair
Engineering Innovation: The Noho Move Chair
When the Noho team set out to create the Noho Move Chair, they envisioned a revolutionary piece of furniture—one that embraced sustainability, ergonomic movement, and cutting-edge design. Turning that vision into reality required significant adaptation, expertise, and investment in plastic manufacturing capabilities to support this ambitious project.
Scaling to Meet the Challenge
Bringing the Noho Move Chair to life meant scaling up operations in multiple ways. To meet the demands of this groundbreaking product, we invested in:
- Custom configured supersized machinery
- Dry capacity and technology
- Tool handling equipment
- High temp mould controller
- Expanded allocated storage and packaging footprint
- Gas injection technology
These upgrades weren’t just about increasing our injection moulding capacity—they were essential in achieving precision, efficiency, and sustainability, ensuring the Noho Move Chair met its full potential.
Sustainability at the Core
Designed by Formway, the Noho Move Chair is a statement in sustainable design. Built using recycled nylon from reclaimed fishing nets and end-of-life carpets, along with pre-consumer waste polypropylene, it significantly reduces environmental impact without compromising durability. This was a great opportunity to not only support the use of environmentally friendly material but to fine tune and gain further experience moulding these unique materials.
Beyond materials, the chair is manufactured in Wellington using 82% renewable electricity, ensuring that production aligns with eco-conscious values. It surpasses BIFMA and BS-EN accreditation, two of the toughest furniture strength and durability standards, reinforcing its long-lasting quality.

A Chair That Moves With You
Unlike traditional seating, the Noho Move Chair actively responds to the body's movements, allowing users to shift naturally between postures. Whether leaning forward to engage in conversation or reclining to relax, the chair supports healthy freedom of movement, improving circulation and reducing pressure points.

The Power of Collaboration
This project exemplifies what happens when vision meets expertise. The Noho team brought passion and innovation, while we provided the technical knowledge and manufacturing capability to make it a reality. Adapting operations to meet the demands of this ambitious undertaking wasn’t just about making a chair—it was about setting a new standard for sustainable, high-performance furniture.
The Noho Move Chair is more than just a product—it’s a testament to what’s possible when design, engineering, and sustainability come together.
